BMW MINI India launch

Limited to 30 units and priced at Rs 58.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the GP Inspired Edition debuts at MINI’s newly opened Retail.NEXT dealership in Surat

MINI India on Tuesday launched the new MINI Cooper S GP Inspired Edition in India and simultaneously appointed Eminent Cars as its new dealer partner in Surat, Gujarat — with the limited-edition car making its India debut at the newly inaugurated showroom. The special edition, restricted to just 30 units nationwide, is available as a completely built-up unit (CBU) and is open for bookings at all authorised MINI India dealerships, with deliveries commencing immediately.

“The launch of the MINI Cooper S GP Inspired Edition in India celebrates the raw racing pedigree that has always defined the MINI GP,” said Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India. “Limited to just 30 units, this exclusive edition is meticulously crafted with distinctive design elements that capture the spirit of the GP, making it a bold and unmistakable statement on the road,” he added.

What the GP Inspired Edition brings to India

The car is offered exclusively in Legend Grey exterior paint with Chilli Red accents across the roof, mirror caps, bonnet stripes and GP-inspired wheel hub caps. A “1/30” badge on the C-pillar marks its limited-edition status. Performance is drawn from a 2.0-litre MINI TwinPower Turbo petrol engine producing 150 kW (204 hp) and 300 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch Steptronic Sport transmission. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds and tops out at 242 km/h.

Inside, the cabin features a 240mm circular OLED touchscreen running MINI Operating System 9, JCW Sport Seats in Vescin Black upholstery made from recycled materials, a JCW steering wheel with paddle shifters, Harman Kardon surround sound, and a Head-Up Display. The car also comes with MINI Digital Key Plus, a Fisheye Camera, and the MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant, activated via “Hey MINI.” A standard two-year unlimited kilometre warranty and 24×7 roadside assistance are included, with service plans available from three years or 40,000 km and extendable up to 10 years or one lakh km.

The ex-showroom price is Rs 58,90,000.

A new Retail.NEXT home for MINI in Gujarat

The GP Inspired Edition’s India launch took place at MINI Eminent Cars, the brand’s newly opened dealership in Surat — a Retail.NEXT format facility that brings BMW and MINI under one roof at Dumas Road, Surat. The showroom spans 7,500 sq ft and displays seven vehicles, while the workshop covers 13,100 sq ft with 10 mechanical bays and seven body and paint bays.

“The launch of MINI in Surat marks a significant step in strengthening our presence in one of India’s most dynamic and entrepreneurial markets,” Brar said. “Gujarat’s growing appetite for premium lifestyle brands and differentiated experiences makes it a natural home for MINI’s distinctive character and progressive urban mobility.”

Ankur Jain, Dealer Principal, Eminent Cars, said the Surat market was a deliberate choice. “We are delighted to introduce MINI to Surat, a city that has emerged as one of Gujarat’s most progressive luxury markets with a strong appreciation for innovation, style and individuality,” he said. “MINI brings a unique blend of iconic design, driving excitement and expressive character that perfectly complements the city’s dynamic spirit.”

Inside the Surat showroom

The Retail.NEXT dealership is built around what MINI calls a “living room atmosphere,” with seating positioned close to the cars. BMW Geniuses at the outlet are equipped with digital sales tools, and dedicated Sales Consultancy Lounges provide privacy for financing and leasing discussions. A Multifunctional Handover Bay manages deliveries for new and pre-owned cars and doubles as a test drive starting point. EV charging infrastructure for Battery Electric Vehicle users is also available on-site.

A lifestyle and accessories zone carries the latest BMW and MINI merchandise, and the showroom integrates ambient elements including lighting, sound, temperature control and product staging as part of the Retail.NEXT experience.

“We aim to create an immersive MINI experience and foster a passionate community of customers who connect with the brand’s unconventional and youthful identity,” Jain said.
