Today, Azure has grown to one of the leading cloud computing platforms globally, positioning Microsoft as a key player in shaping the future of digital infrastructure.

Over the last years, Microsoft has acquired 102+ companies. Having GitHub, LinkedIn, Minecraft, and various active acquisitions has brought a new audience into the Microsoft ecosystem. These acquisitions, along with integrating large user bases to Microsoft’s productivity tools, also expanded the company’s footprint in the market.

Nadella, by partnering with OpenAI and investing $1 billion in 2019, took an early bet on AI that has brought immense success to him. In 2021, AI-powered products began to roll out with GitHub Copilot. Following the launch of ChatGPT in 2022 and the introduction of many copilots in 2023. To make their partnership stronger, Microsoft doubled down with a $10 billion investment in OpenAI.

Nadella did not stop here; Microsoft, along with separate initiatives at Meta and Google, invested heavily in virtual and augmented reality [VR/AR] with the development of HoloLens. Additionally, Microsoft is promoting AI literacy and skills development, intending to train one million people in Switzerland by 2027.

Today, Microsoft is actively integrating AI into its solutions, such as Notepad, Microsoft 365, and Azure AI Foundry Labs.
