The Infosys veteran will serve as a special advisor to the business until March 15, succeeding Brian Humphries.

Ravi Kumar S. has been named as Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp.’s new CEO and board member, effective immediately, succeeding Brian Humphries.

Kumar left Infosys in October to become head of Cognizant Americas. Many observers assumed at the time that he was in line for the CEO position. According to a Cognizant statement, Humphries will remain as a special adviser until March 15 to ensure a smooth transition. He stepped down as CEO earlier this month after a four-year tenure.

Kumar had a 20-year career with Infosys, most recently serving as president from January 2016 to October 2022 at India’s second-largest IT firm in terms of revenue. He was also a director of TransUnion and software services firm Digimarc Corp. He earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Shivaji University in Maharashtra and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from Xavier Institute of Management.

“Cognizant is well-positioned for growth, and I’m delighted to help our workers, clients, investors, and other stakeholders realize the company’s immense potential,” Kumar said.

Surya Gummadi, a 24-year company veteran, will succeed Kumar as president of Americas. Gummadi served as a temporary replacement for Kumar from July to October.

In addition, Stephen J. Rohleder, a member of Cognizant’s board since March, has been chosen head of the board. Rohleder was appointed to the board in March.

Cognizant has stated that it expects fourth quarter and annual sales of around $4.8 billion and $19.4 billion, respectively, compared to previous projections of $4.72 -4.77 billion for the fourth quarter and $19.3 billion for the whole year.
