According to Meta India Monthly Report, which was issued on Thursday, the firm took action against more over 2.29 crore pieces of content posted by Indian users on Facebook and Instagram in November.

On Facebook alone, the corporation removed almost 1.49 crore spam posts, followed by 18 lakh posts about “Adult Nudity and Sexual activity” 12 lakh posts about “Violent and Graphic Content” and so on.

On Instagram, Meta removed 10 lakh posts about suicide and self-injury, 7.27 lakh posts about violent content, 7.12 lakh posts about adult nudity and sexual activity, 4.84 lakh posts about bullying or harassment, 2.25 lakh posts about promoting “violence and incitement” and other posts that violated its guidelines.

Meta received 2,368 complaints from Instagram users under the IT Rules of 2021, with the most complaints being for an account being hacked (939), followed by a fake profile (891), bullying or harassment (136), content revealing the user in nudity or partial nudity or in a sexual act (94) and so on.

“Of these incoming reports, we provided tools for users to resolve their issues in 1,124 cases,” Meta stated.

The corporation responded to 555 reports of phoney profiles, 253 reports of accounts being hacked, 31 reports of bullying or harassment, and 30 reports of content depicting the user in nudity, partial nudity, or engaging in a sexual act.

In 511 cases, the social media giant got 889 complaints under the IT Rules of 2021, for which it gave options to users to fix their difficulties.

According to the research, Facebook users primarily complained about their accounts being hacked, followed by losing access to pages that the users maintained, bullying or harassment, and content depicting people in nudity or partial nudity or in a sexual act. All customer complaints regarding losing access to pages were handled by the firm.

According to the report, it responded to 73 complaints of phoney profiles, 40 complaints of hacked accounts, 29 complaints of bullying or harassment, and just 17 complaints of content depicting the user in nudity or partial nudity or in a sexual act.
