Ajit Varghese will report to Disney Star’s President and Regional Manager, K. Madhavan. Varghese will be responsible for all of Disney Star’s TV advertising revenue and digital advertising revenue, driving growth through sales and channel strategy.

Media and entertainment company Disney Star announced the appointment of Ajit Varghese as head of advertising sales for the network. In this role, Varghese will be responsible for overall advertising revenue for Disney Star’s TV and digital businesses, driving growth through channel sales and strategy, partnership building, and business development, the company said in a statement.

He also develops the sales organization’s long-term vision and strategic direction and reports to Disney Star’s President and Regional Manager, K. Madhavan.

Disney Star’s Head of Advertising Sales, Nitin Bavankule, left the company in March. Bawankule joined Star India during its merger with The Walt Disney Company in a global agreement on October 1, 2019. Over the past few months, the Disney Star has been fired from management several times. The head of Disney+ Hotstar, Sunil Ryan, resigned last year. Before this, Anil Jairaj, Head of Advertising Sales at Star Sports, stepped down as CEO of Viacom18’s sports business.

Varghese joined Disney Star after serving as Chief Sales Officer responsible for revenue generation, marketing efforts, and partnerships at ShareChat and Moj. Before ShareChat, Varghese served as Global President of the media agency Wavemaker, overseeing business operations and driving growth in more than 50 markets based in London. He also spent three years as a Singapore-based general manager for Asia Pacific at Maxus, a marketing agency. He has also worked for organizations such as Madison World, Kantar IMRB, and Universal Media Initiative.

Ajit is a highly respected and well-regarded professional within the advertising and marketing fraternity. I am confident that under his leadership, we will be able to unlock significant value and create more opportunities to further grow our market leadership,” Madhavan said in a statement.

Varghese said India’s advertising market has already surpassed 100 trillion and will be one of the fastest-growing markets in the world this year.“This allows for tremendous opportunities by which we can create ground-breaking solutions to drive growth for our clients. I keenly look forward to being a part of a great company,” he said in a statement.
