Currently, Disney+ Hotstar has over 100,000 hours of TV and movie programming in nine languages. It also does the live coverage of every major sporting event.

Expansion of Disney+

Dopesick and The Book of Boba Fett are just two of the many exclusive original shows and movies that will be available on the new streaming service. It will also include hundreds of other titles from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic.

Disney+ will be available in Albania, Algeria, Bahrain, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lebanon, and a number of other countries.

Following last year’s decision by TWDC to postpone the debut of its streaming service in Eastern Europe until the summer of 2022, the company has announced the new date.

Disney+ is now accessible in 18 countries throughout EMEA, including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

New releases

TWDC has revealed that an adventure series based on Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson & the Olympians book series, will begin production this summer on Disney+.

The pilot will be written by Riordan and Jon Steinberg, with James Bobin directing. Riordan has previously stated that he will collaborate with Disney+ on a book series adaptation in 2020.

Produced by 20th Television, the Disney branded television series is aimed at a broad demographic. However, in particular, it will be aimed at adolescents, and young adults.

There have already been two prior cinematic adaptations of Percy Jackson & the Olympians. These were released in 2010 and 2013 by 20th Century Fox. In 2019, Disney bought the parent business of the studio, 21st Century Fox.

With Rick Riordan, Jon Steinberg and Dan Shotz leading our creative team, we are deep into creating a compelling TV series worthy of the heroic mythological characters that millions of Percy Jackson readers know are well-worth caring about, and we’re eager to invite Disney+ audiences into stories that are true to the blockbuster franchise and full of anticipation, humour, surprise and mystery,” said Ayo Davis. She is the President of Disney Branded Television.

Each country’s subscription fees have not yet been announced.
