“Quality shouldn’t be aspirational. It should be accessible. Because smartness isn’t about spending more—it’s about choosing better.”

The urgency to shift towards electric mobility might not just be a climate matter but also geopolitical. The rising energy crisis around the world could be making consumers think again about buying a combustion-engine vehicle or two-wheeler. Most importantly, these consumers are now shifting to electric mobility. For most of the market, using any sort of vehicle for transportation means just about going from point A to point B. And the only thing the Indian market wants is reliability and quality.

As this editorial speaks with Umang Saraogi, founder of E-Went Electric Vehicles, we uncover that quality will never be a choice but a necessity.

“E-Went is the flagship electric mobility brand of Saraogi E-Ventures Pvt. Ltd., founded in 2021 with a mission to deliver reliable, high-performance, and affordable electric mobility.”

E-Went Electric Vehicles commits to quality in its products, which is the culmination of a steel tubular chassis built to withstand potholes, heat, and humidity. Additionally, the IP67 waterproof motor ensures protection against Indian monsoons and an in-house Maxx Power drivetrain built for consistent, everyday performance. When Umang Saraogi opens up about his vision to provide 100% made-in-India electric two-wheelers, he means a total backstep from import dependency. And he has delivered it with strategic leadership, steady growth, and consistent efforts towards innovation. The company has assembly units in Kolkata and Hyderabad. Under Mr. Saraogi’s leadership, E-Went Electric sold 20,000+ electric two-wheelers nationwide. They have established a network of 250+ dealers across seven states and two operational assembly units in Kolkata and Hyderabad. Furthermore, E-Went has raised $3 million in funding to support this expansion.

Mr. Umang Saraogi: “For me, scaling was never just about the numbers—it was about growing without letting reliability slip, which shows in a warranty claim rate held under 1.5% over three years, among the lowest in the segment.”

Umang Saraogi’s sharp observation led to the meteoric growth of E-Went. He identified the main problem behind reluctance in buying any EV. And that would be charging access and poor build quality. The company marvellously solved the gap, which was an “engineering one rather than a marketing one.”

Let’s hear two words from some of the customers of E-Went.

“What really tells the story is what riders say. Raj Sharma, who rides a Lightning, says night rides feel noticeably safer thanks to the dual projector LED lights, with strong, quick pickup. Rohan Singh finds his Foxy spacious and comfortable even on longer city rides. Manish Chauhan was genuinely surprised by how much power his Lightning packs, with a smooth 70 km/hr top speed. Radhika Sharma uses her Rabbitor every day for school drop-offs and errands.”

The London School of Economics and Political Science graduate says to Business Outreach Magazine that their upcoming expansion plans will put E-Went on a broader map across India.
