The Russian made Sputnik light Covid-19 vaccine is likely to be launched in India by December according to the CEO of Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev.

Sputnik light, which is a single dose Covid-19 vaccine which is going under tough trials and is said to be at least 70% effective against coronavirus, is probably on its way to India.

The vaccine can also be used as a booster shot and is authorised in more than 15 countries worldwide. The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) which works under the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, asked for trials of the vaccine to be done. Sputnik Light turned out to be 78.4% effective according to analysed data from 28 days during Russia’s mass vaccination program.

Efficacy level of almost 80% is quite impressive and better than even a lot of 2 dose vaccines. Sputnik light successfully tackled all-new strands and variants of the virus so far, and hence can be a huge game-changer, as tested by Gamaleya Center. More than 15 countries have authorised this vaccine while 30 more countries are on their way to authorise it as a new one shot vaccine or simply even as an immunity booster.
