JSW Steel crude steel production

JSW Steel Limited reported consolidated crude steel production of 6.59 million tonnes (MnT) for the first quarter of FY 2026-27, up 3% year-on-year, the company said in a stock exchange filing on Thursday.

JSW Stock Price

The update comes as JSW share price traded at ₹1,223.60, up 0.34% in early trade, with the stock touching an intraday high of ₹1,229.50 against a previous close of ₹1,219.50.

JSW Stock has moved in a 52-week range of ₹1,017.40 to ₹1,328, and currently commands a market capitalisation of about ₹3.04 lakh crore.

Production numbers

Indian operations produced 6.35 MnT in Q1 FY27, against 6.14 MnT a year earlier. JSW Steel USA – Ohio held steady at 0.24 MnT. Consolidated production rose 2% quarter-on-quarter from 6.48 MnT in Q4 FY26.

The year-ago and preceding-quarter numbers exclude Bhushan Power and Steel Limited (BPSL), whose steel undertaking was moved to a joint venture JSW-JFE Steel Limited in a slump sale in March 2026.

BF3 restart drives underlying growth

Blast Furnace 3 (BF3) at the Vijayanagar plant was shut for a capacity upgrade before resuming hot-metal production on June 23, 2026. That shutdown held headline growth to 3% YoY. Stripping out its impact from last year’s base, underlying volumes grew closer to 15%, powered by a full ramp-up at JVML and better utilisation at Dolvi.

Capacity utilisation at Indian operations, excluding the idled BF3 capacity, stood at roughly 94% for the quarter — a strong number for the JSW Steel Company plant even as it undergoes expansion.

Scale and expansion

Vijayanagar is already India’s largest single-location steel plant, running at 19.5 MTPA. It’s being scaled up to around 25 MTPA by FY30, which would make it the world’s largest steel plant. Group-wide, JSW Steel’s combined capacity stands at 37.9 MTPA, including 4.5 MTPA through its JV with Japan’s JFE Steel, with plans to hit 54.8 MTPA within four years.

JSW Steel is the flagship business of the $25-billion JSW Group, whose other interests span energy, infrastructure, cement, paints, realty, e-platforms, mobility, defence, sports and venture capital.

Sustainability record

The company ranked #1 globally in the steel sector on the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA 2025) and features on the FTSE4Good and Dow Jones Sustainability Indices. All four of its operations are Responsible Steel Certified, covering over 80% of domestic crude steel output.

JSW Steel targets a 42% cut in CO2 emissions from steel-making by 2030, with net-zero across directly controlled operations by 2050.
