Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) said in a statement that the business sold a total of 1,30,699 vehicles in the same month last year.

Total domestic passenger car sales were 1,34,166 units, up 30% from 1,03,187 units in the previous month, according to the report. Mini category automobile sales increased to 22,162 units in August 2021, up from 20,461 units in August 2021.

Compact vehicle sales, which included the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S, and WagonR, increased by 57% to 71,557 units, up from 45,577 units the previous month. Vehicles of utility, consisting of Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross and XL6, clocked sales of 26,932 units last month as compared to 24,337 units earlier.

“The shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles, mainly in domestic models. The company took all possible measures to minimise the impact,” MSIL said.

Sales of van Eeco were 11,999 units last month, up from 10,666 units in August 2021, while sales of light commercial vehicle Super Carry were 3,371 units, up from 2,588 units previously.

MSIL said that its exports in August 2022 were 21,481 units, up from 20,619 units in the same month previous year.
