BEML Limited, a Miniratna public sector undertaking (PSU), has changed the date of its upcoming board meeting that was previously held to acquire the final dividend for the financial year 2024–25 (FY25). On Tuesday, June 3, the company also informed the stock exchanges that it will be having a board meeting on Friday, June 6, 2025 which was previously reported as Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
BEML in an exchange filing said, “We wish to inform you that the Board meeting of M/s BEML Limited scheduled to be held on Tuesday, the 10th June, 2025, has been rescheduled to be held on Friday, the 06th June, 2025.”
This update came just a few days after the company had earlier announced, on May 30, that it would consider a final dividend at a meeting next week. With the date brought forward, shareholders will know the board’s decision by the end of this week.
Three Dividends in One Financial Year
If the board permits it the final dividend will be the third dividend declared by BEML in that financial year. BEML has already declared two interim dividends in FY25:
- The first dividend was ₹5 per equity share and the record date was February 14, 2025.
- The second dividend was ₹15 per share and the record date was May 15, 2025.
This indicates that BEML is clearly committed to regularly returning value to shareholders and is maintaining a strong balance sheet.
Implications for Shareholders
Dividends represent a return of a portion of the company’s profits to shareholders, and investors holding shares on the “record date” determined by the corporation have a right to receive dividends when they are declared.
If BEML declares a third dividend for FY25, it will increase the total returns to investors in FY25. Amount and record date will be announced following the board meeting on June 6.
