Air India Express has announced the start of services from Ayodhya International Airport as Ayodhya prepares for the grand opening ceremony of the Ram Mandir and the ‘Pran-Pratishtha’ or consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla’s idol on January 22, 2024.

Air India Express will launch its inaugural trip to Ayodhya from the national capital on December 30, with regular daily service beginning on January 16. The Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport in Ayodhya has an expanded runway suitable for A-321/B-737-type aircraft operations.

According to a statement issued by Air India Express on Wednesday, the maiden flight IX 2789 is planned to depart from Delhi at 1100 hours and arrive in Ayodhya at 1220 hours on December 30. IX 1769 is expected to leave Ayodhya at 1250 hours and arrive in Delhi at 1410 hours.

“Air India Express is thrilled to begin operations from Ayodhya as soon as the airport opens.” This highlights our commitment to improving connectivity across the country from Tier 2 and Tier 3 facilities,” said Aloke Singh, Managing Director of the airline. He also said, “We are excited about Ayodhya’s anticipated growth, which will attract pilgrims and travelers from near and far, and we are proud to be a part of this exciting growth narrative.”

The airline, which is a subsidiary of Air India, runs about 300 flights every day. It has 59 aircraft in its inventory.

The DGCA approved the aerodrome permit for the future Ayodhya airport on December 14, which the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is developing at a cost of roughly Rs 350 crore.

IndiGo announced on December 13 that the inaugural flight from the national capital to Ayodhya airport will take place on December 30, with commercial services beginning on January 6.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Ayodhya airport, which will be completed by the end of this month, according to Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia’s statement on December 8.

Air India Express would also offer convenient one-stop connections from Ayodhya to Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru, Kochi, Guwahati, Goa, Gwalior, Jaipur, Pune, Surat, Srinagar, and Sharjah.

This expansion of Air India Express, a subsidiary of the Tata group’s Air India, is projected to make travel easier for a significant number of devotees visiting the holy city. Ayodhya is the airline’s 45th destination, as well as its third operating sector in Uttar Pradesh.
