Vivo T5 5G

Vivo has launched the T5 5G in India at a starting price of ₹34,999, introducing a performance-focused smartphone with a curved AMOLED display, a MediaTek processor and a large battery.

The Vivo T5 5G was unveiled on September 2 and will go on sale from September 9 through Flipkart, Vivo’s online store and partner retail outlets. It will be available in Royal Bronze and Silver Green.

Four memory configurations have been announced. The 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model costs ₹34,999, while the 8GB and 128GB version has been priced at ₹39,999. Buyers seeking more storage can choose the 8GB and 256GB model at ₹44,999 or the 12GB and 256GB version at ₹49,999.

For the launch day, Vivo is offering a ₹3,500 instant discount on the base model and ₹4,000 on the other three configurations through eligible HDFC Bank, SBI and Axis Bank cards. These offers reduce the effective prices to ₹31,499, ₹35,999, ₹40,999 and ₹45,999, respectively.

The company has clarified that the bank discounts are limited to the launch day and remain subject to the participating banks’ and retailers’ conditions. Six-month no-cost EMI options will also be available.

Curved Display and New MediaTek Processor

The T5 5G features a 6.83-inch curved AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,800 × 1,260 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 144Hz.

Vivo claims the panel can reach 2,000 nits of high-brightness-mode output. It has a pixel density of 449ppi, support for the DCI-P3 colour range and HDR10+ compatibility.

The 144Hz setting will not necessarily operate across every application. Vivo says the maximum refresh rate is available only in software and games that support it.

Powering the phone is the MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo, a 4nm chipset paired with the MediaTek NPU 850 for artificial-intelligence workloads. Vivo says the processor delivers an AnTuTu score exceeding 1.2 million when tested on the 12GB and 256GB configuration.

The company also claims that the device can run a three-billion-parameter language model at approximately 10 tokens per second, providing up to 233% faster on-device AI computing than the Dimensity 7400.

These performance figures come from Vivo’s internal laboratory tests and may vary with the software version, workload, device temperature and memory configuration.

The phone uses LPDDR4X memory and UFS 3.1 storage. It does not include a microSD card slot, meaning the internal storage cannot be expanded with a memory card.

A 3,800 sq mm vapour chamber forms part of a wider cooling arrangement covering approximately 23,062 sq mm. Ten temperature sensors monitor heat during demanding tasks such as gaming, video recording and multitasking.

Sony Camera Supports Front and Rear 4K Video

The rear camera system is led by a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 sensor with four-axis optical image stabilisation. It is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera offering a field of view of up to 115 degrees.

A 32-megapixel camera is positioned at the front for video calls and self-portraits. Both the front and rear cameras support 4K video recording, while the main camera combines optical and electronic stabilisation to reduce movement in recorded footage.

Photography features include 1x, 1.5x and 2x portrait options, Vivo’s Bokeh Flare Portrait effect and AI Erase 2.0 for removing unwanted objects from images. Some AI editing functions require an internet connection and a Vivo account.

The smartphone runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16. Vivo has promised three generations of Android upgrades and five years of security updates, although the company notes that update availability depends partly on releases received from the Android platform provider.

Other software features include AI Creation, AI Transcript Assist, AI Captions, Circle to Search 2.0 and Ultra HD Documents. Vivo Office Kit supports file sharing, screen mirroring, task handover and note synchronisation with compatible computers.

Large Battery Fits Inside a Slim Body

The phone’s main hardware highlight is its 7,050mAh battery, paired with 44W FlashCharge.

Despite the battery capacity, the handset measures 7.99mm in thickness and weighs 199 grams. Vivo says a 30-minute charge can take the battery from 1% to 44% under its controlled testing conditions, while a 10-minute charge can raise it to 17%.

The company also claims that the battery can retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 complete charging cycles. Vivo equates that figure to approximately five years of use, based on one full charge and discharge every 1.2 days in laboratory conditions.

Real-world charging speed and battery longevity will depend on network activity, display brightness, background applications, temperature and individual charging habits.

The T5 5G carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. It has been tested for immersion in fresh water and exposure to high-pressure water jets under controlled conditions. Vivo cautions that this protection can weaken over time and that liquid damage is not covered under warranty.

Additional equipment includes dual stereo speakers, an in-display optical fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and an infrared blaster. The phone also supports wet-hand touch and a water-ejection function for the speakers.

With prices ranging from ₹34,999 to ₹49,999, the Vivo T5 5G enters a crowded section of India’s smartphone market. Its combination of a curved 144Hz display, front and rear 4K video, water resistance and a large battery will be central to its appeal when sales begin on September 9.
