The Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) and the AI Center Hamburg (ARIC) just signed a deal. It’s Sandbox Dubai’s first time teaming up with someone from another country.

Basically, they want to get some cool AI folks and businesses from Europe to come try out their stuff in Dubai. This will help Dubai stay on top of the AI game worldwide.

ARIC is a big deal in Europe for AI, with experts from all fields. This deal should help people share ideas and link up tech innovators and businesses in both the UAE and Germany.

DFF provides access to Sandbox Dubai—a facility designed to help businesses test their products and services in a regulated environment, thereby speeding up the adoption of new technologies. The sandbox was launched in 2024 as part of the Dubai Economic Agenda initiative (D33), which aims to double the emirate’s economy over the next decade.

This MoU was signed by Abdulaziz AlJaziri, Deputy Chief Executive Officer & Chief Operations Officer of DFF, and Alois Krtil, CEO of ARIC. AlJaziri noted that Sandbox Dubai aims to complement the regulatory and innovation ecosystem of Dubai through the identification of opportunities for the creation of technologies, working closely with government and private sector partners to specify advanced regulations and initiatives. He went on to say that with this collaboration with ARIC, Sandbox Dubai will integrate itself into global technology markets and the broader international scene in regulatory innovation. The initiative aims to nurture talented entrepreneurs while encouraging companies to set up shop in Dubai and develop new technologies to do so, solidifying the city’s status as an international business hub.

Krtil pointed out that this partnership will open up new opportunities for cross-border collaboration, allowing companies and institutions to bring advanced technologies to market. He mentioned that the initiative would serve as a platform for innovators, entrepreneurs, and policymakers from both countries to share knowledge and experiences regarding AI implementation in sandbox environments. This teamwork is all about creating connections in the innovation world. We’re talking joint projects to share know-how and tech, plus swapping tips on what works through group learning. Krtil said this should build a stronger bond between Dubai and Hamburg as major innovation spots, helping that city grow and advance in tech.

With this partnership, Dubai is making big moves to be a top place for AI development. It’s using rules that help test and improve new tech. By teaming up with ARIC, the Dubai Future Foundation hopes to boost cooperation around the world, get the best AI minds, and build a place where great ideas can really take off.
