Smartphone producer Realme on Thursday said the new 5G handset series priced under Rs 20,000 further strengthens its stand as the market leader in the division.

Indian and European Realme Vice-President and CEO Madhav Sheth said there has been a curtailment in segments availability in particular processors and prices have also risen but the company is still sustaining the price of 5G smartphones at modest and affordable extents.

The Realme 8 5G will further consolidate our positioning as a 5G leader, democratizing 5G to the masses. It also produces India”s first MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, the latest 5G mid-range processor which renders a stable and fabulous experience collectively.

“Realme is the top 5G brand under Rs 30,000. We are anticipating to further extend our service in the 5G market,” Sheth said at a virtual event of the company.

At the event, Realme revealed two modifications of realme 8 5G smartphones priced at Rs 14,999 and Rs 16,999 per unit that can bear dual 5G sim and switch between 4G and 5G networks based on connection availability.

The Realme 8 5G smartphone grows up with a 3-card slot covering two SIM cards and one for storage cards with a potential of up to 1 terabyte.

“While the realme 8 5G series is just one step towards accomplishing this vision, we have big plans to make 5G-enabled smartphones extensively available. We will bring more 5G smartphones to every Indian in an assortment of price ranges,” Sheth said.

The smartphone will be open on Flipkart and mainline channels of Realme from April 28. As per both Counterpoint, Realme has become the 4th most comprehensive smartphone brand in India since the last quarter of 2018.
