According to Reuters, she changed her name to reflect her new gender identity and because “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”

Justine Wilson, Musk’s ex-wife, gave birth to her in 2008. From 2000 to 2008, Elon Musk and Justine Wilson were married. Griffin, her twin brother, is her other sibling.

According to court documents available online through PlainSite.org, the former Xavier Alexander Musk, who recently turned 18, the legal age of consent in California, has asked the court to change her gender recognition from male to female and to register her new name.

Her new name was redacted in the online document, but she wants to be known as Vivian Jenna Wilson, according to the TMZ report.

In April, she filed a petition with the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica for a name change and a new birth certificate reflecting her new gender identity. It was recently brought to light in some online media reports.

Vivian’s hearing on the name change is scheduled for Friday, according to the report.

There was no further explanation for the rift between Musk’s daughter and her father, Elon Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO who is attempting to buy Twitter for $44 billion.

On Monday, neither a lawyer representing Musk nor the Tesla media office responded to Reuters requests for comment.

Musk declared his support for the Republican Party in May, about a month after the name and gender change document was filed, despite the fact that the Republican Party’s elected representatives support a slew of legislation that would curtail transgender rights in states across the country.

Musk tweeted in July 2020 that pronouns are a pain.
