Dubai South, the biggest single-urban master plan focusing on aviation, logistics, and real estate, has signed an agreement with UPS, an international leader in logistics, to build a facility within the Logistics District of Dubai South. The venture coincides with UPS’s strategic expansions in the region thereby strengthening its presence in the UAE logistics space.
The accord was signed by Tariq Badri, Director of Business Development and Investor Relations, Dubai South, and Andrew Sleiman, Vice President for Legal for the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East, and Africa, UPS. The signing ceremony was attended by Mohsen Ahmad, Logistics District CEO, Dubai South, and Ismet Demirel, VP Transportation, India Subcontinent, Middle East, and Africa, UPS.
The facility will increase UPS’s operating capacity across the UAE and facilitate greater connectivity in international trade with its extensive global network. It hopes to complete the project and have it up and running by the end of the year.
Mohsen Ahmad declared that by partnering with UPS, Dubai South aims to further build up the development of Dubai as a leading global logistics hub. The new facility will enhance UPS’s efficiency in delivering trading connectivity. He also remarked that Dubai South was determined to assist UPS in putting the necessary resources together to meet the surging demand for logistics services throughout the region. With its strategic location, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and smooth multimode connectivity, Dubai South is and will remain the first choice for any logistics providers aiming to expand their businesses.
Ismet Demirel underscored that Dubai was a major hub for UPS’s global network owing to its world-class infrastructure and its strategic location at a crossroads of global trade. He said that this investment will allow UPS to connect businesses across the Middle East and send goods to over 200 countries and territories, thus driving efficiency and growth for enterprises of all sizes in one of the most vibrant regions in the world.
Dubai South’s Logistics District is well known for its high-tech logistics infrastructure and premium services enabling seamless operational connectivity. The district provides uninterrupted access to Jebel Ali Port through an active bonded logistics corridor and is divided into various zones, all given direct access to cargo terminals of Al Maktoum International Airport. It is also home to EZDubai, a dedicated e-commerce free zone, and a Contract Logistics Zone, which further elevates the district’s status as a premier logistics hub.
