The electrical future of car transportation is now. With the ever-increasing global concerns over climate change, there is an evident rise in the interest towards innovative solutions to the problem of the emissions from the transport sector for both countries and cities. Taking the lead in the changing mobility scenario of Dubai is a young start-up which designs its business idea for the overseas market.

Dubai Paving the Path

Eco Way was created at the end of 2023 by Ukrainian Ivan Kroshnyi, the entrepreneur behind the concept, with an intention to promote zero-carbon deliveries across the UAE as the only normal way of delivering. It has manufactured and commissioned electric bicycles designed to perform other functionalities including indoor deliveries. In less than half a year, Eco Way has closely collaborated with the most influential stakeholders, including Talabat and Pizza Hut as well as Amazon to carry out zero-emission shipping within all the districts of Dubai.

The ideological movement that became the beginning of sustainable entrepreneurship was inspired with a desire of creating something powerful that would bring positive to the society. Being quite an ambitious person, he started several companies and later immigrated to Dubai to find a firm for which his experience would be useful for plans connected with the sustainable development of UAE. In eco way, path to success started by following the results of a complex research, were done into the local delivery services and the community needs as well as government priorities.

With the UAE committed to achieving net-zero by 2050, initiatives like Eco Way are crucial for decarbonizing the transport sector responsible for over a quarter of the nation’s emissions. The start-up’s arrival couldn’t have been more timely as Dubai recently announced supportive policies nudging delivery companies towards greener fleets. With demand for low-carbon solutions surging, Eco Way is well-positioned for growth domestically and beyond.

With 45 bikes currently operating, the start-up is focused on refining its model through real-world testing with partners. Three customized variants have been developed to meet the unique requirements of couriers. Features like extended wheelbases, metal-coated brakes and GPS trackers ensure optimal performance, safety and fleet management capabilities.

Compared to gasoline counterparts, Eco Way’s electric bikes drastically reduce fuel costs while increasing range up to 130km on a single charge. Battery swapping technology further streamlines operations for couriers by eliminating wait times. These efficiencies are translating to thousands of carbon-free deliveries each month and significant emissions reductions as the fleet scales.

While still in testing mode, Eco Way’s early success exemplifies the commercial viability of electric mobility solutions tailored to regional needs. With Dubai paving the way, Kroshnyi aims to introduce sustainable delivery fleets across fast-growing markets like India, Indonesia and the MENA region within five years. Plans are also underway to expand into electric vehicles and establish in-house manufacturing capabilities.

Eco Way’s journey reflects the entrepreneurial spirit driving Dubai’s transition to a green economy. By tackling real problems with innovative local solutions, sustainability-focused start-ups are playing a vital role in realizing the UAE’s vision of a carbon-neutral future. With ambitious expansion goals and continuous product refinement, this young company is well positioned to lead the charge towards emissions-free urban mobility on a global scale.
