Mounting on the rush in demand for tablets generated by the elongated work-from-home situations in India, Apple ousted Samsung to grasp the second spot in the Indian tablet market. The company clutched 29% of the market share in the first quarter of 2021.

Apple has overhauled Samsung to catch the second position in India’s tablet market with a 29% market share in the January-March quarter of 2021, boosted by the needs of work from home and online studies.

As per a report by CMR Research, Samsung, which clinched the second spot in the Indian tablet market in the former quarter, conversely, was relocated to the third spot. IANS summarises that Apple iPads beheld an outstanding 140% year-on-year growth in the January-March quarter of the year. During the corresponding period, iPad 9 captured 17% of the market share, while iPad Air 2020 gained 9% of the market share in India.

The research organisation predicts that Apple’s growth was spurred by manifold factors, which constitutes a work-from-home trend, aspirational interest among buyers and its performance in the ed-tech division.

Lenovo proceeded to traverse the market in the first quarter of the year as well. This is fundamental because the company maintains to offer low-budget tablets in the market, which presents them as appealing and convenient to the masses.

As per a distinguished report by the research organization, Lenovo drove the Indian tablet market in the year 2020 catching 39% of the market share. Samsung persisted as second with a 30% market share, while Apple stood third with a 17% market share in 2020.
