In the upcoming second season of Shark Tank, Vineeta Singh will appear. The first episode of season 2 will air on the date that was stated by the program’s creators.

Vineeta Singh, a judge on Shark Tank India and the CEO of Sugar cosmetics, has said that she experienced gender bias when starting her business.

Vineeta recounted on The BarberShop with Shantanu how a previous investor had declined to support her company without her husband’s support.

In response to a question on gender inequality, she stated: “Early on in our journey, we were so needy for funds and it was so hard for Kaushik (husband) and I to secure investment all the way up to 2018-19 when B2C (business to consumer) became cool.

She claimed that she had not chosen to fight for bringing up inappropriate behavior. “When the opportunity arises, I’ll pay it forward and make sure that when I have some money, I support a lot of women-led businesses, but I won’t take a panga (investors) with them.”

Speaking of her beginnings, she recalled an investor telling her, “We don’t invest in solo women entrepreneurs thus until Kaushik quits Mckinsey and joins full-time, we can’t offer you a cheque.” This was in 2012–2013 when Kaushik was still working for Mckinsey.

She inquired as to why this was the case, and was informed that “We had this female founder and when she had a family, she decided to not prioritize this, and the firm sort of faded away.”

She remarked, “I was thinking, ‘Wow! Sample size n=1 and you’ve opted to label our entire gender by publicly stating that you’ll never invest in female startups.

However, I told him, “We’ll be back,” “because she really needed that cash.

She continued, “But then atleast he has mentioned that if I quit then he’s (Kaushik) going to come so we have some hope there,” adding that she had texted her husband with all kinds of expletives regarding the investor.

She cited this as yet another instance of gender discrimination: “There are still instances where certain venture capitalists would shake my husband’s hand but not mine.”

She said, “Some of the top VCs, senior partners, people I really admire, they are also naturally so uncomfortable while shaking their hands, yet she would shake her hand properly. I am aware that they are avoiding eye contact and not engaging in conversation with me, but I will still make eye contact with you and explain that gender is not a factor in this situation and that we are all simply working together to build something, regardless of gender.

The CEO also discussed how for women at work, crying is a form of self-expression rather than a breakdown. She added that it serves as a significant coping strategy for many women and just allows us to release the pain so we can recover stronger. The Shark Tank participant remarked, “She said that she has educated many of her senior leaders to make them understand that sobbing is just a way of reacting for many women,” while appearing on The BarberShop with Shantanu show.

Vineetha Singh will be featured in Shark Tank’s second season. The first episode of season 2 will air on the date that was stated by the program’s creators.
