GeM, an initiative launched in August 2016 under the Ministry of Commerce, serves as a convenient one-stop-shop platform for various government ministries and agencies in their pursuit of procuring an extensive range of goods and services. This comprehensive platform encompasses a wide array of products, spanning from basic office stationery to sophisticated automobiles, as well as encompassing services like logistics, transportation, and waste management.

During a recent public event on Monday (June 26), Union Minister Piyush Goyal disclosed the triumph of TCS in clinching the coveted contract. Furthermore, Goyal shared his anticipation for the introduction of numerous cutting-edge and contemporary features on the GeM platform, which are set to be unveiled by the end of the current year or early next year. He elaborated on TCS’s role in enhancing the operational ease of the portal, affirming that their involvement will usher in additional elements to streamline the platform’s functionality. In the spirit of continual improvement, Goyal emphasized the government’s commitment to refining the system and unveiled plans to introduce data analytics services on the platform. These services aim to assist buyers and sellers in making informed procurement decisions, thereby promoting efficiency and efficacy.
