Ashok Leyland is happy to work with TNSTC to achieve “Mobility for All,” the Tamil Nadu state government’s goal of expanding public transportation access.

The Chennai-based CV builder, which claims to be a long-standing supplier of TNSTC with over 18,477 buses in its fleet, would begin delivering these buses in the coming months.

The new ULE buses have an H-series 6-cylinder 4-valve 184 kW (246 hp) engine, a step-less entry, rear engine configuration, automatic transmission, front disc brake, electronically controlled front, and rear air suspension, and an intelligent transportation system with CCTV, destination boards reflecting vehicle location, and vehicle tracking, according to Ashok Leyland.

Ashok Leyland’s President-M&HCV, Sanjeev Kumar, said. “Our ULE buses are the epitome of commercial vehicle technology and safety. We are pleased to provide TNSTC and the people of Tamil Nadu with a fleet that provides excellent comfort and the highest safety requirements. This order underlines our clients’ faith in Ashok Leyland.

The German Development Bank (KfW) is funding this initiative.
