The multinational firm Sony has announced that Savage Game Studios would be added to its newly established PlayStation Studios Mobile Division.

As of right now, Savage Studios don’t appear to have created any games. However, its co-founders were involved in the development of some of the most well-known mobile game franchises, including “Angry Birds” and “Clash of Clans.”

Sony, in a press release, has revealed that the novel studio will offer “more ways for more people to engage with our content and strive to reach new audiences unfamiliar with PlayStation and our games.”

The studio is anticipated to operate independently from its console division to produce, in Sony’s words, “new experiences” based on PlayStation franchises and intellectual property. The studio is also developing a brand-new triple-A mobile live service action game, but few specifics are available at this time.

Savage Game Studios’ CEO and co-founder Michail Katkoff claims that Sony is honouring their vision for how they want to run their business and prosper while also letting them “get into PlayStation’s amazing collection of IP.”

So from the looks of it, we could see some spin-off games from successful games from the PS franchise to come in a mobile avatar.

It is definitely a surprising, but not unexpected move by Sony, who, after staying exclusive to consoles, released some of its most beloved titles on PC — including the Uncharted Series, Spider-Man, and is soon going to bring the Last Of Us to PC too.
