DigiYatra Facility at Delhi's IGI Airport's T3 Offers Contactless

IGI Aiport; New Delhi

Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport’s Terminal 3 (T3) will now offer passengers the convenience of using the DigiYatra facility without the need to download the mobile application, announced Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), the private airport operator. Through a simple three-step registration process, passengers can utilize their facial recognition as their identity within the airport premises. The DigiYatra facility, an initiative of the central government, aims to provide a seamless and hassle-free experience for travelers at airports. This new offering by DIAL complements the existing DigiYatra mobile application.

Previously, users had to download the DigiYatra Application on their mobile phones and register using their Aadhar-linked mobile number to utilize the DigiYatra facility. After registration, users were required to link their credentials using DigiLocker or offline Aadhaar. Following the linking process, users had to take a selfie and upload it to the application. The final step involved updating the boarding pass on the DigiYatra App and sharing it with the departure airport.

DIAL’s latest initiative was prompted by passenger demands for further simplification of the DigiYatra process. This new offering eliminates the need for passengers to download anything on their mobile phones and aims to provide a delightful travel experience, particularly for those less familiar with the technology.

To register under the new process, passengers only need to scan their boarding pass and their face, and present identification proof to the security personnel at the registration desk. Once successfully registered, passengers can navigate the terminal, security check area, and boarding gates seamlessly.

The initiative promises faster mobility to boarding gates, hassle-free travel, enhanced security, dedicated gates, and a completely contactless experience, ultimately saving passengers at least 15-25 minutes. Currently, the DigiYatra facility is available at all departure gates of Terminal 3 and Terminal 2 of the IGI Airport.
