New Delhi, Delhivery, one of India’s top logistics companies, is introducing a new app, Delhivery Direct, to offer fast on-demand intra city delivery options. The fully operational service has so far been launched in Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru after successful pilot tests in Ahmedabad.
Users of the app have the option to schedule deliveries within the same city, and they can schedule their parcels to be collected as little as 15 minutes later. Users have the option of different vehicles for varying delivery needs. Two-wheeled vehicles will deliver small parcels, while three-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles can deliver larger or bulkier shipments.
“We are now fully live with Delhivery Direct across NCR and Bengaluru—two of the largest markets for on-demand intracity service in India—and will rapidly expand to key metros,” said Sahil Barua, Managing Director and CEO of Delhivery. ‘This launch completes the spectrum of offerings to our customers who can now use us for intra city needs as well.”
What Delhivery Direct Offers
The new app aims to make local delivery simple, fast, and reliable. Key features include:
- Quick pickups, often in under 15 minutes
- Multiple vehicle options based on package size
- Doorstep service, no need to visit any center
App availability on Google Play and Apple’s App Store
Along with local deliveries, Delhivery Direct also offers intercity parcel shipping for more than 18,800 pin codes across India. This enables users to ship parcels anywhere in the country directly from their home or business.
Who’s it For?
The service targets individual users, small & medium businesses (SMEs), and delivery partners. Customers get simple, quick dispatch deliveries, while delivery partners get to earn with flexible working hours. It fits within Delhivery’s larger network, which already includes more than 60,000 employees and partners.
A Competitive Market
Through this launch, Delhivery will enter a competitive space, enclosed with players such as Porter, that just secured $200 million in Series E funding round and became a unicorn, Borzo, Mover, and Rapido, which specifies its focus on two-wheeler courier deliveries. In May, Uber also entered the segment with Courier XL, a new feature that allows users to send oversized items via the app. Delhivery Direct adds to its proposition in the nascent urban logistics sector in India. The proposition of local and national delivery from a single platform provides a holistic solution for modern day shipping needs.
