A Platform for Strengthening Bilateral Ties and Advancing the Belt and Road Initiative
The China-UAE Economy and Trade Exchange Center was formally inaugurated in Expo City Dubai, marking an important milestone in the partnership between the two countries. The center seeks to accelerate cooperation across trade, science, technology, education, and culture, utilizing the strategic location and innovative business environment of Expo City to push forward China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
The event falls within the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the UAE, which attracted high-ranking dignitaries such as His Excellency Zhang Yiming, Chinese Ambassador to the UAE, and Her Excellency Ou Boqian, Consul General of China. Senior representatives from leading Chinese entities and Expo City Dubai attended the ceremony.
HE Zhang Yiming said, “China and the UAE are trusted partners committed to mutually beneficial cooperation. The China-UAE Exchange and Trade Center will ensure our comprehensive strategic partnership continues to thrive and bring greater benefits to our people.”
Executive Director of Expo City Dubai Najeeb Al Ali said, “Dubai is a hub for sustainable and prosperous growth.” He noted, “Situated at the center of the future growth of Dubai, Expo City is quickly gaining a position as a global quality destination for all who are joined by our common vision for making the future more sustainable and prosperous. Openings of the China-UAE Economy and Trade Center mark a grand milestone in the shared history between our two nations.”
A Strategic Hub for Innovation and Collaboration
Already hosting innovative Chinese companies such as Sinotrans and Shahin, Expo City Dubai has already attracted the interest of various Chinese entities due to it’s strategic location. The city will be close to Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai Exhibition Centre, and Jebel Ali Port, thereby closely aligning with BRI objectives that focus on enhancing regional integration, boosting trade, and stimulating economic growth through land and maritime networks that connect Asia, Africa, and Europe.
In October, the launch of Expo City Dubai’s new master plan further accelerated interest from Chinese firms. Notable developments include a recent agreement between Expo City Dubai, Gaw Capital Partners, and Lingang Group to study the creation of the Expo Life Science Park.
In the following month, Expo City Dubai will play host to over 70 top-tier Chinese business leaders from the CKGSB CEO Program. The visit would be a great opportunity to depict the smooth business flow of the city, collaborative ecosystem, and role as a hub of innovation and sustainability. It comes after the active participation by Expo City Dubai in the Dubai Business Forum – China that emphasized opportunities generated through the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).
The opening of the China-UAE Economy and Trade Exchange Center underscores the two nations’ shared vision of fostering cooperation and driving sustainable growth, making it the cornerstone of their comprehensive strategic partnership.
