Air India which was recently privatized and is now owned by the Tata group, is close to signing a deal with Boeing Co. for 50 737Max jets with an aim to acquire as many as 150 jets.

This is the first major order for Air India after its privatization. According to the reports, earlier Boeing Co. was supposed to deliver these jets to China Southern. It is now guaranteed that Boeing Co. will immediately deliver 50 737Max jets to Air India with keeping a view of acquiring as many as 150.

The order will be signed and closed in the next few weeks, said one of the people since Air India has huge plans for expansion in the near future.

It will continue its purchase with Airbus. According to the reports, Boeing Co. got an advantage in this situation because the American manufacturer promised to deliver 50 737Max jets by March 2023, whereas Airbus is unable to deliver A320 Neon before 2025.

With acquiring these many jets, Air India will show its increase in the domestic as well as the international market share. Since its recent takeover, Tata group has huge plans for the expansion of Air India and increasing its market share up to 30%.
