Marvell Technology, a global leader in data infrastructure semiconductor solutions, on Tuesday announced plans to invest $250 million in India over the next three years, marking one of the largest tech commitments to the country’s semiconductor ecosystem this year.
The announcement coincided with a milestone event celebrating two decades of Marvell’s engineering presence in India.
Marvell doubles down on Bangalore as it marks 20 years in the country
As part of the investment, Marvell plans to double its India headcount over the next three years, unveiling a new wing at its Bangalore office while simultaneously expanding its footprint in Hyderabad. The expanded infrastructure will feed directly into the company’s global innovation pipeline, supporting design and development work on advanced semiconductor solutions for AI, cloud and data infrastructure applications — the technologies powering the current AI boom.
Navin Bishnoi, vice president and India country manager at Marvell, said India has become a strategic hub of engineering excellence for the company, playing a critical role in advancing infrastructure technologies that power the world’s leading hyperscalers and cloud providers. He added that the company remains committed to expanding its R&D investments and strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem and technology talent pool.
Marvell to expand Bangalore and Hyderabad operations to power next-gen AI chips
Marvell first set up operations in Bangalore in 2006. Two decades on, India has grown into the company’s second-largest R&D organization worldwide, with teams across Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad building deep expertise in cutting-edge process technologies — including 2 nanometre chips and beyond — high-speed analog IP, subsystem design, and end-to-end silicon development.
Marvell said its India employees hold multiple patents and are playing a leading role in applying AI tools to accelerate engineering productivity.
Beyond in-house R&D, Marvell is also investing in India’s broader semiconductor ecosystem — partnering with universities on internships, faculty development and joint research, and mentoring startups aligned with its technology portfolio.
Scholarship push for the next generation
The company also spotlighted its Marvell Scholarship for Technical and Engineering Merit (MSTEM) program, launched earlier this year for students pursuing degrees in electronics, electrical engineering and computer science.
The program drew more than 7,000 applicants from universities across India, with 100 students ultimately selected for scholarships combining financial support with hands-on industry exposure.
Marvell Technology, Inc. designs semiconductor solutions that move, store, process and secure the world’s data, serving the world’s leading technology companies for over three decades.
