Users of Zomato will find it convenient to pay for their purchases from a range of merchants and send money directly to other users. Zomato introduces UPI solutions for in-the-moment payments in partnership with ICICI Bank.

An established online meal delivery business called Zomato just launched its own UPI (Unified Payments Interface) service. This real-time payment system, which was introduced in association with ICICI Bank, enables users to send money directly to both people and businesses. Zomato hopes to provide its users with a more simplified and practical payment experience with the launch of this new payment option.

Users of Zomato will benefit from this development since it will be simple to pay for their purchases from a range of merchants and transmit money peer-to-peer. Customers may now create their own UPI IDs by signing into the Zomato application, which enables them to make payments through the app. Users of Zomato benefit from a streamlined payment process made possible by this function, which lets them perform transactions without interruption inside the programme.

Please follow these procedures to activate Zomato UPI:

  • Open the Zomato app on your phone or tablet.
  • Obtain access to your Zomato account’s profile area.
  • Until you find the Zomato UPI option, scroll down.
  • Select “Activate Zomato UPI” by tapping it.
  • Select a favoured Zomato UPI ID.
  • Select your cellphone number when requested.
  • Connect your bank account to the Zomato app to enable simple payments.

When ordering meals, there is no longer a need to be redirected to other UPI applications like Google Pay, Paytm, or PhonePe thanks to Zomato’s UPI functionality. Customers may now easily use their Zomato UPI account to pay their meal bills immediately. This eliminates the need for extra steps or switching between different payment apps, giving Zomato consumers a more smooth and streamlined payment procedure.

This modification was made by the industry titan in food delivery in an effort to reduce its reliance on third-party payment applications and the number of Cash on Delivery (COD) orders. Additionally, because there is no KYC procedure required to create a Zomato UPI account, this change may have an impact on how Paytm and Google Pay operate.

The Zomato UPI service is currently in a test programme and only available to a small number of customers. But in the next few months, there are plans to make this service available to all Zomato customers. Zomato first collaborated with ICICI Bank, but there are plans to establish partnerships with more institutions soon.
