Presently, picture-in-picture mode is in beta testing. Users can avail of this feature in 2023.

The main attraction of WhatsApp is that it allows you to send and receive calls and messages only using your internet connection. That means it’s practically free to use and great for international calls. There is no registration fee and you don’t have to worry about data plans.

At first glance, WhatsApp may look like just an SMS app, but it can do much more

Improvised features have been added to WhatsApp to enhance the overall user experience. The modifications to the application include color waveforms, video-call participants of up to 32, the ability to share call links, mute/message participants, and more. As per the reports of the previous month, Meta-owned WhatsApp is functioning to provide picture-in-picture mode for video calls.

Picture-in-picture mode will allow users to multitask while operating other applications during a WhatsApp video call.

The following are the tweets from WhatsApp regarding their upcoming features:

As reported by WaBetaInfo, beta testers who installed the latest WhatsApp beta update to iOS 22.24.0.79 from the TestFlight app can avail of the picture-in-picture feature for video calls. The report says the feature now works on at least iOS 16.1 and above versions. Therefore, this could be one of the functions supported by the official support update for iOS 16.
