CAT 2022: On August 3, the application process for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2022, an entrance exam for admission to Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other participating B-Schools across the country, will begin. The website iimcat.ac.in now has an information bulletin and other details relevant to candidates.

Criteria for CAT 2022 Eligibility

Candidates with a bachelor’s degree with at least 50 percent marks or equivalent CGPA (45 percent for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates) can apply for the exam, according to the CAT 2022 information bulletin.

“The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate will be calculated in accordance with the practice of the respective University/Institution.” In the case of grades/CGPA, the conversion to percentage of marks would follow the procedure approved by the respective University/Institution. Suppose any University/Institution confirms that there is no scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks. In that case, the equivalence will be determined by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result by 100,” according to an official statement.

Candidates in their final year of undergraduate studies and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can apply for CAT 2022. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the program on a provisional basis only if they submit a certificate from the Principal/Registrar of their University/Institution (issued on or before the date specified by the respective IIM) stating that they have completed all requirements for obtaining the UG degree. “IIMs may conduct eligibility checks at various stages of the selection process… “Candidates should be aware that simply meeting the minimum eligibility criteria will not guarantee consideration for shortlisting by IIMs,” states the information bulletin.
