Results for PVR’s second quarter: During the analysed quarter, the largest multiplex operator in India increased its operational revenue to 686.72 crore. In the equivalent quarter of the prior fiscal year, it was 120.32 crore.

The largest operator of multiplex chains, PVR Ltd, declared a combined net loss of 71.23 crore for the quarter that ended in September 2022 on Monday (Q2FY23). This represents a 53% decrease from the 153.13 crore reported during the same period last year (Q2FY22). 

During the quarter under review, its operating revenue increased to 686.72 crore rupees. In the equivalent quarter of the prior fiscal year, it was 120.32 crore.

PVR’s overall revenue increased to $703.13 million from the previous quarter’s 275.21 million. 

Compared to the same quarter last year, when its total expenses were 460.68 crore, they were 813.33 crore in Q2FY23.

PVR Ltd is a well-known and upscale multiplex cinema exhibition business that distributes and produces movies. It also makes money through internal advertising sales of food and beverage products, gaming, and restaurant operations. The business founded India’s first multiplex cinema, ushering in the multiplex revolution. The business makes money by selling food and drinks inside movie theatres as well as running adverts and product displays inside. According to the number of screens, the firm operates India’s largest multiplex. PVR had three subsidiary businesses as of March 31, 2018: PVR Pictures Limited, PVR Lanka Limited, and Zea Maize Private Limited.

Through their subsidiary PVR Pictures, which buys and distributes Indian and foreign films, the corporation runs a film distribution and production business. In accordance with a joint venture agreement between Priya Exhibitors Pvt Ltd and Village Roadshow Ltd, PVR Ltd was established on April 26th, 1995 as Priya Village Roadshow Ltd. In Saket, New Delhi, the company opened the country’s first multiplex theatre, the PVR Anupam, in June 1997. By selling computerised tickets, they computerised box office operations. The company opened the PVR Priya single-screen theatre in Vasant Vihar, New Delhi, in January 2000. The business opened the three-screen Multiplex Cinema PVR Vikaspuri in New Delhi in November 2002 after opening the four-screen Multiplex Cinema PVR Naraina in April 2001.
