PepsiCo on Friday released a limited edition pack of its famous soft drink ‘7Up’ . This will be released in the Tamil Nadu market in light of the forthcoming Pongal celebration.

A new limited-edition holiday 7U pack featuring the wacky, curly-haired mascot Fido Dido has been released. It was launched in time for the auspicious harvest festival of Pongal in Tamil Nadu.
“Pongal” is a Tamil word which means “to boil”. This festival is celebrated as an expression of gratitude for the year’s crop during this festival. Every year, in the middle of January, the Hindu celebration of Pongal coincides with the festival of Lohri.
Pongal is a four-day-long harvest celebration that takes place during the month of Thai (January-February). Thousands of people in the state of Tamil Nadu celebrate Pongal.
This festival marks the end of the winter season and is a holiday to express appreciation for a successful crop. The Pongal celebration is represented in every aspect of the food in Tamil Nadu.
The essence of Pongal can be felt from the elaborate kolam (rangoli) to the usage of sugarcane and pots in the cooking process.
About the release
On Friday, PepsiCo announced the launch of limited-edition 7Up cartons for the Tamil Nadu market ahead of the harvest festival of Pongal. A limited-edition festive bundle has been included to commemorate the Pongal holiday.
“To celebrate Pongal in a unique manner, 7Up was fortunate to have been a part of the rich Tamil Nadu tradition. Limited-edition boxes are our attempt to re-create the holiday vibe,” said Naseeb Puri. He is the senior marketing director for flavours at PepsiCo India.
The limited-edition 7UP packets pay homage to Pongal’s spirit by drawing inspiration from the festival’s many facets. All things Pongal, from the elaborate Kolam art to the usage of sugarcane and pots to prepare delights, are represented in the packets.

Availability of the limited edition bottles
In honour of the auspicious Pongal holiday, 7Up has introduced a new limited edition festive pack featuring the mascot “Fido Dido”.
The new 7Up bottles will come in 600 ml, one-liter, and two-and-a-half-liter sizes. The firm plans to display hoardings and posters across public spaces in certain cities.
The limited edition beverage will be accessible at all contemporary retail shops and certain e-commerce platforms. Additionally, hoardings and banners in key cities will use the celebration branding to get the word out to as many people as possible.
