Rohit Sharma, the leader of the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), as well as the skipper of the Indian cricket team, has chosen to switch his allegiance from Star Sports to JioCinema. Sharma will now be seen advertising JioCinema during the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. Sharma formerly served as the brand spokesperson for Star Sports.

In reality, Sharma was a part of the official Star Sports IPL campaign, which also included top Indian players Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Ravindra Jadeja.

JioCinema is setting the standard for changing how sports are watched on linked TVs and mobile phones in India. Its extraordinary variety of options gives fans a lot of real power. Because it enables the transition to the digital platform and provides cricket fans with a higher level of flexibility, accessibility, involvement, and personalization, I am extremely happy to be associated with JioCinema and be a part of this adventure, said Rohit Sharma.

As part of a common ambition to employ a number of efforts to make sports viewing synonymous with digital, Rohit will work closely with the JioCinema team. In order to increase the number of fans, he would use JioCinema’s digital-first proposition for all premium sports properties nationally.

According to Viacom18 Sports CEO Anil Jayaraj, “Rohit Sharma embodies the spirit of sportsmanship and unmatched leadership, representing the values that fans and players alike hold dear.” “Rohit’s ability to connect with fans works in harmony with our presentation of sports and the ongoing TATA IPL, and this partnership is a natural extension of our quest to lead India on a path that represents an exciting future.”

Over 550 crore video views were logged during the first two weeks of JioCinema’s free IPL 2023 streaming for all Indian fans, according to a statement released by Viacom 18.

It was also noted that the platform has achieved two back-to-back records for peak concurrency, with the April 17 and April 12 matches between the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore reaching 2.4 crore and 2.2 crore top concurrency viewership, respectively.

The weekend saw almost 10 crore additional viewers and 5 crore additional app downloads, according to information provided by Viacom 18.

JioCinema has secured 23 streaming partners for the IPL, including JioMart, PhonePe, and Tiago EV as co-powered partners and Dream11 as a co-presenting sponsor.

These companies are among the associate sponsors: Appy Fizz, ET Money, Castrol, TVS, Oreo, Bingo, Sting, AJIO, Haier, RuPay, Louis Philippe Jeans, Amazon, Rapido, Ultra Tech Cement, Puma, Kamla Pasand, Kingfisher Power Soda, Jindal Panther TMT Rebar, and Indeed.
