India will send more students to the United States in 2022 than China, according to a new report. A recent poll found that the number of Indian students studying in the United States rose in 2022 compared to the previous year, with Asia becoming as the most desired place of origin.

Asia became the most popular continent of origin due to the large number of students from China and India. In comparison to the reduction from calendar year 2020 to 2021, China sent fewer students in 2022 compared to 2021 (-24,796), but India sent more (+64,300),” according to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement annual report.

From the calendar year 2021 to the calendar year 2022, the total number of active F-1 and M-1 student records from Asia increased by 68,678, with student record trends varying by country.

According to the Student and Exchange Visitor Programme (SEVP), there were 117,301 pre and post-completion optional practical training (OPT) students in the calendar year 2022 who had both an employment authorization document (EAD) and reported working for an employer, up from 115,651 in the calendar year 2021 — a 1.4% increase.

According to the research, all four areas of the United States experienced a rise in foreign student records from 2021 to 2022, with increases ranging from 8% to 11%.

From 2021 to 2022, the number of international students enrolled in kindergarten through grade 12 increased by 7.8 percent (+3,887). According to the report, no K-12 schools welcomed more than 700 foreign students in the calendar year 2022, as they did in the calendar year 2021.

It said that in the calendar year 2022, 7,683 SEVP-certified schools were eligible to enroll overseas students, a decline of 400 schools from the previous year (8,038 schools).

According to the research, California will have 225,173 foreign students in 2022, the highest number of international students (16.5%) of any US state.

In 2022, there were 276,723 active exchange tourists in the United States, a 15% increase from 240,479 active exchange visitors in 2021.

According to the study, 46 percent (6,21,347) of all active SEVIS records in the calendar year 2022 came from either China (3,24,196) or India (2,97,151), one percentage point less than in the calendar year 2021.
