Google Stadia was founded in 2019, making it one of the huge service providers to participate in the gaming sector.

Google Stadia is officially closing nearly three years after its launch. Google announced in a blog on Blogspot its Stadia services will shut down on January 18, 2023, and gamers on the platform will obtain compensation very soon. The refunds are predicted to be finalized by mid-January 2023.

Google stadia was stated as the “Netflix of video games” by some, letting players broadcast and play games via cell phones, web browsers, and additional equipment using Chromecast’s streaming device. It delivered a console-quality experience without heavy requirements.

Phil Harrison, Vice President and General Manager at Stadia, told in a blog post, that the underlying technology outlet that powers Stadia will be used to bolster Google services, like YouTube, Google Play, and Augmented Reality. The blog reads, “We remain deeply committed to gaming, and we will continue to invest in new tools, technologies and platforms that power the success of developers, industry partners, cloud customers and creators.”

Last month Facebook also declared that it would suspend its standalone Gaming App this fall.
