Surat, June 24 – Fantail, a B2B textile manufacturing startup from Surat, has raised ₹13.75 crore (around $1.6 million) in seed funding, led by Riverwalk Holdings, Incubate Fund Asia and All In Capital.

This is an institutional first for Fantail, which will use the funding to support small and medium-sized textile businesses (SMEs) by building better production systems in Surat and enabling them to finish larger orders quicker and more efficiently.

Fantail was incorporated in 2023 by Ramya Iyer; a textile professional with 10 years of experience in Surat’s textile industry. Fantail works directly with weavers, mills, and processors, handling the complete textile manufacturing process and supply chain, from yarn to end-of-life clothing. Fantail’s approach nests into the textile manufacturing space and brings much-needed structure into the unorganised sector.

“In B2B, timing is of great significance. I have personally worked with the Surat ecosystem for a decade, and in the coming years, we will see a lot of action in manufacturing 2.0 here,” said Iyer.

Fantail aims to change how textiles are produced by changing makers to a more structured and technology-based process. This process enables faster deliveries to their clients, better quality control, and better use of money and materials. There are many textile manufacturers in India, especially in Surat, who still use outdated processes that make it hard for them to grow, or meet large orders. Fantail seeks to fix these issues and help SMEs be more reliable and more scalable.

The team also believes that by investing in the right tools and systems, local manufacturers will not only be competitive in India but also in the global market. Fantail desires to eliminate delays as a result of better synchronization between the various links of the supply chain, and to ensure that their products are manufactured to a high standard.

The additional funding is for newer equipment, worker training, and providing overall greater production processes in partner SMEs. Fantail is hoping that one day, through these changes, Surat will eventually become a powerhouse of modern textile manufacturing (sometimes called “Manufacturing 2.0”).
