Corning Inc. Has announced its intention to invest Rs. 934 crores, in Telangana, India with the aim of establishing a cutting-edge manufacturing facility for Gorilla glass. This significant step is expected to have an impact on smartphone production in the area leading to the creation of employment opportunities for, more than 800 individuals.

In a groundbreaking move, Corning Inc. is poised to establish its cutting-edge Gorilla glass manufacturing facility in Telangana, India. This pioneering investment, totaling Rs. 934 crore, marks a significant milestone as the first of its kind in the region. 

Corning, a prominent Fortune 500 materials science company based in New York, is gearing up to produce cover glass for leading players in the smartphone industry.

The Rs. 934 Crore commitment by Corning and its partners represents a strategic move that promises to catalyze the smartphone manufacturing ecosystem in both Telangana and across India. This ambitious venture is expected to yield employment opportunities for more than 800 individuals.

The official announcement came following a meeting between Telangana’s Minister for ITE&C and Industries, K T Rama Rao, and Corning Inc.’s key representatives in New York. 

Present at this meeting were John Bayne, the Senior Vice President, Ravi Kumar, the Global Operations Executive, and Sarah Cartmell, the Director of Government Affairs at Corning Inc.

Rao expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “With Corning’s substantial investment in Telangana, we are poised to usher in a new era of smartphone manufacturing, not just within the state but throughout India.” This bold move by Corning Inc. underscores the region’s growing prominence in the global electronics manufacturing landscape.
