According to the firm, Lemon-Dou “is a refreshing, full-bodied chu-hi alcoholic lemon drink,” made with crushed whole lemons soaked in alcohol and blended with bubbles.

Lemon-Dou, Coca-Cola India‘s worldwide alcoholic ready-to-drink beverage, is the company’s first entry into the Indian alcohol market. Pilot testing of Lemon-Dou has begun in “a few states in India,” according to the company.

In a few Indian states, Coca-Cola is conducting pilot tests for a few of its global portfolio of low-alcoholic ready-to-drink brands, including Lemon-Dou.

The report further stated that during its initial test launch in India, a 250 ml can is available for Rs 230.

Apart from Japan and its recent launch in India, Lemon-Duo will soon be available in China and the Philippines. Coca-Cola and Pernod Ricard will te­am up to offer Absolut vodka mixed with Sprite starting in 2024. The­ companies said in October they will work toge­ther on this drink.

The product will be marketed under the Absolut & Sprite brand, starting in the UK, Netherlands, Spain, and Germany. The article also stated that the mixture will include Coca-Cola’s lemon-lime soft drinks, Sprite and Sprite Zero Sugar, together with Pernod’s premium vodka, Absolut.

According to the company’s website, “Lemon-Dou is made from crushed whole lemons, infused in alcohol, mixed with bubbles – a refreshing, full-bodied chu-hi alcoholic lemon drink.”

India’s alcoholic beverage market is expected to grow to USD 64 billion over the next five years, according to a report by the International Spirits & Wines Association of India (ISWAI). This would place India as the fifth-largest contributor to worldwide market revenues in the short to medium term. According to the report, the business, which is expected to reach a market size of USD 52.4 billion in 2021, accounted for almost 2% of the nation’s nominal GDP and is still a sizable one, with ₹3.9 lakh crore (US$47 billion), including national liquor.

Some Indian state­s now test selling lemon-dou. This drink combine­s spirits similar to vodka or brandy with lime. The expe­riment aims to see if offe­ring lemon-dou might help or harm communities.

“The company’s non-alcoholic ready-to-drink (NARTD) beverages are prepared and distributed in facilities that are separate and independent in India, while these beverages are prepared and distributed separately,” the statement added.

The first lemon sour brand from Coca-Cola, Lemon-Dou, was created in response to the increasing demand from fans of the beverage to “enjoy the authentic taste of Lemon Sour not only in the drinking places but also at home,” as stated on the official website.
