The Ram Mandir’s opening has turned Ayodhya into a major destination for tourists. Fast-food chains such as KFC are in talks to create vegetarian-only locations in the city. Due to the popularity of Domino’s, which is a kilometer from the recently built Ram temple in Ayodhya, officials have hinted that if they limit their menu to vegetarian options, they would create a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) location.

All-Veg KFC in Ayodhya

With the opening of the Ram Mandir, Ayodhya is becoming a major tourist destination. Many food firms will have to serve vegetarian meals since they intend to open locations in the holy city. The prospect of Kentucky Fried Chicken, often known by its abbreviation KFC, constructing a location in Ayodhya has sparked discussions. The chicken of this American fast-food chain is well-known.

Since non-vegetarian food is prohibited in the holy city, KFC maintains a regular location along the Ayodhya-Lucknow route outside of Ayodhya. On the other hand, if KFC modifies its menu, the city’s authorities are prepared to accept it.

According to Vishal Singh, an Ayodhya government official, “We are ready to provide even KFC a space if it decides to sell only vegetarian items,” as reported by Moneycontrol.

Ayodhya strictly prohibits the consumption of meat and alcohol along the Panch Kosi Marg. This path includes the Panch Kosi Parikrama, a 15-kilometer pilgrimage circuit that circles Ayodhya and visits sacred Ramayana places.

Large food chains have expressed interest in opening stores in Ayodhya. The only restriction is that they cannot offer non-vegetarian cuisine within the panch Kosi. Other than that, we welcome them with open arms,” Singh continued.

In India, KFC would not be the first fast-food chain to adopt an all-vegetarian menu. The Times of India stated that in 2013, Subway not only established an all-vegetarian restaurant in Ahmedabad but also provided Jain menu items. According to TOI, the US fast-food chain had already launched its first all-vegetarian location at a Punjabi private institution.

In Ahmedabad, pizza chains such as Pizza Hut and Domino‘s Pizza have also developed vegetarian eateries. Pizza Hut’s first vegetarian restaurant in the world was located in Ahmedabad and offered Jain alternatives as well.

Specialty menu items such as McCurry, McVeggie, and Paneer Wrap are only available in India at McDonald’s. As stated by HuffPost, these choices are not offered in its US eateries.
