Funds will be used to acquire new customers and integrate offline retail stores for a unique in-store experience.

“We are scheduling SustainKart’s first offline store launch in April. We have started partnering with entrepreneurs who believe in sustainability to launch our franchise experience stores across India. We aim to launch 30 stores in the first year and a total of 100 stores in two years from now,” said Shilpa Reddy, cofounder, SustainKart.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu, an actress, has invested an unknown sum in SustainKart, a Hyderabad-based ecommerce platform for sustainable products, as part of its seed round fundraising.

SustainKart sells environmentally friendly and sustainable items spanning from fashion to design, beauty and health, furniture to gifting, nutrition and snacks, kids care, and pet care, among other things.

SustainKart, founded in 2021 by Shilpa Reddy and Kanthi Dutt, intends to revitalise families via the usage of organic items. SustainKart, supported by actress Keerthy Suresh, launched skin and hair care brand Bhoomitra in 2021.

Announcing her association with the startup, actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, said, “The choice of consumers has been slowly gravitating towards more conscious and nature-friendly products. Consumer brands have been launching their sustainable range of products, more so after the pandemic.”

SustainKart’s products are organic, upcycled, earthy, recyclable, and durable, according to the business, with over 950 brands and 68,000 stock-keeping units. SustainKart purchased homecare business FromVedas, founded in 2021 by Nadendla Vedashree, last month. The brand was created with the goal of making the cleaning industry more ecologically friendly.

Floor cleaners, air fresheners, fabric conditioners, dishwashing solutions, and hand wash liquids are all manufactured totally from organic oils, vegetable-derived colours, and pure natural perfumes.

Meanwhile, celebrities ranging from the film business to the sports world have made investments in beauty and fashion firms. For example, actress Sara Ali Khan recently invested in The Souled Store, a Mumbai-based casual clothing and pop-culture D2C firm.
