Tejaswi Surya, MP of Bangalore South constituency during the zero hour in the Lok Sabha raised the issue that the basic concepts of money management skills need to be taught at the school and college level.

Zerodha’s CEO Nithin Kamath who often presses the issue of teaching the importance of financial journey early in life have agreed and thanked Tejaswi Surya for his speech in the Lok Sabha.

Nithin believes that students need to be taught the basics of financial knowledge as this will help them to break the 9-5 cycle.

I still remember the formula for the area of a circle or that CH3OH is Methanol from school. Similarly, If we taught finance basics in school, like why start investing early, inflation, insurance, retirement planning, etc. These lessons will be helpful throughout life,” tweeted Kamath. Tejasvi Surya in the Lok Sabha claimed that India doesn’t have financial literacy as a part of formal school education. He further added that if the next gen Students were taught basic financial knowledge in schools and colleges level then they will be able plan their lives better and stay away from fraudulent schemes.

Tejasvi Surya compelled the education ministry to consider making money management skill as a part of school and college syllabus. Kamath supported Tejaswi’s argument and volunteered to help the Govt.
