August 6, 2025, Biome, a venture studio, has announced the first close of its capital raise, backed by a group of experienced entrepreneurs and family offices. In addition, Biome plans to invest ₹100 crores over the next three years to help build and scale new startups in India and other regions.
Biome is uniquely built for the experienced founder who wants to build from scratch. It provides founders with not only all the funds they need, but also full service and support, including product, hiring, marketing, and operations, to support and build new startups. Biome partners with each founder to co-create their startup, and matches each founding team with an expert team from the start.
Powered by Leading Industry Names
Biome’s first close is backed by known names such as BVR Mohan Reddy, Prasad Yerneni, and Abhinav Reddy. We also have Raj Phani’s (founder of Zaggle) family office, Aditya Vuchi’s family office, and the Phoenix Group family office, which is interested in investing. These backers bring not just money but also influential networks and experience in tech, infrastructure and innovative business.
The backing of these investors is expected to create better access for Biome’s startups for guidance, partnerships, and commercial opportunities.
Helping Founders Start Strong
Biome is headed by Srinivas Kollipara, Madhu Poomalil, Kaustubh Patekar, and Zaran Bhagwagar. The leadership team consists of founders and executives with deep experience of building and scaling businesses. They aim to do whatever they can to ensure founders don’t feel like they are alone in the early stages of their paths.
“We’ve built Biome to be the kind of early partner we believe early-stage companies truly need: deeply embedded, execution-led, and committed through every phase of growth. Our capital doesn’t just support companies, it helps build them, brick by brick,” said Srinivas Kollipara, Managing Partner at Biome.
Biome will only work on a limited number of high-potential startups per year to allow it to provide focused investment and support to each.
Early Stage Startups in the Pipeline
Biome has started working with a few early-stage ventures. One of its first startups is an AI stealth-mode company located in the US, founded and led by a world-class AI scientist. Another is Zoop. Money, a fintech company making home loans easier for Indian users through improved technology.
The Way Forward
Biome has ₹100 crore in committed capital, and is still ready to build start-ups that “solved real problems” that could expand globally. Its unique model – combining capital, knowledge, and working closely together – is a powerful new entrant in India’s start-up ecosystem.
