
Suzlon Energy has secured a 105 MW order from Sunsure Energy for its newly launched S175 (5.0 MW) wind turbine, marking the first commercial order for the turbine within two weeks of its launch, the company said Monday in a press statement.
First Commercial Order for Suzlon’s New S175 Turbine
Under the order, Suzlon will supply, erect, commission and maintain 21 next-generation S175 turbines in the Bijapur district of Karnataka.
Suzlon-Sunsure Partnership Crosses 400 MW
This is Sunsure Energy’s third order with Suzlon in under 14 months, taking their cumulative partnership to 400.8 MW.
The S175 is built around a 175-metre rotor and a 160-metre hybrid lattice tower, designed to tap stronger and more stable wind regimes for higher energy yields.
Girish Tanti Highlights Long-Term Collaboration
Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, said Sunsure had grown into one of India’s largest and fastest-growing commercial and industrial (C&I) focused renewable energy providers. He added that the partnership had progressed from a maiden 2.1 MW platform project to the 3 MW platform, and now to the launch order for the 5 MW S175 turbine.
Sunsure Focuses on India’s Rising Clean Energy Demand
Manish Mehta, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Sunsure Energy, said the order reflected the company’s focus on firm, dispatchable power for India’s electrification needs. He cited demand drivers including data centres, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), advanced manufacturing, and electric mobility.
He added that the S175 supports Sunsure Energy’s ambition of becoming a 10 GW renewable energy platform by 2030.
Suzlon Sees Strong Growth in India’s Renewable Energy Market
Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, said the project would become a case study in effective energy generation and project economics, citing the pace at which India’s commercial and industrial renewable energy market is scaling.
