
Mukesh Ambani, head of Reliance Industries, has reclaimed his title of India’s wealthiest individual in the M3M Hurun India Rich List, while Bollywood mega star Shah Rukh Khan has officially joined the Billionaires’ Club for the first time. This was the major learning for the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2025 and the Hurun Global Rich List 2025.
Ambani in the Lead, Adani holds 2nd position
Ambani and family maintain their number one position in India, having a net worth of ₹9.55 lakh crore. However, his wealth decreased by nearly ₹1 lakh crore relative to the previous year, signaling a total global wealth of ₹8.6 lakh crore.
Gautam Adani is India’s biggest wealth gainer, adding nearly ₹1 lakh crore (13%). Adani is now India’s second-richest person, with a net worth of ₹8.15 lakh crore. Adani’s wealth stems from holdings in ports, power, airports, mining, renewables, media, and cement.

Roshni Nadar Named Richest Woman in India
Roshni Nadar Malhotra, the chairperson of HCL Technologies, made a strong entrance into both lists after her father Shiv Nadar transferred a 47% stake in HCL to her. She is now India’s richest woman with a net worth of ₹2.84 lakh crore on the India list and ₹3.5 lakh crore on the global list and is the only woman in India’s Top 10.
Shah Rukh Khan Enters the Billionaires List
For the first time, Shah Rukh Khan has received the billionaire status at a net worth of ₹12,490 crore. His elevation demonstrates how fame, investment, and business can come together to create enormous wealth.
Newborn Billionaires Promoting Technology and Innovation
Aging in the thirty-or-thirty-five range, India’s new-bred billionaires are influencing every area of life, from AI, cybersecurity, retail and hospitality. Aravind Srinivas, founder and CEO of the AI start-up Perplexity, made headlines as India’s youngest billionaire at ₹21,190 crore.

Growth of Indian Billionaires Continues
India now has 350+ billionaires, six times what it had 13 years ago when the list was created. Together, they have ₹167 lakh crore in wealth, nearly half of the country’s GDP.
Niraj Bajaj and family saw the biggest increase at ₹69,875 crore to a total of ₹2.33 lakh crore.
Where Are the Billionaires?
Mumbai continues to be the top city with 451 billionaires, followed are New Delhi (223) and Bengaluru (116).
By sector, pharmaceuticals lead with 137 billionaires, followed by industrial products (132) and chemicals & petrochemicals (125).
Increased Number of Self-Made Billionaires
From the lists, we see 66% of India’s billionaires in the world are self-made and 74% of new names to the list are self-made billionaires.
