According to The Economic Times, the top three telecoms in India, Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea, and Bharti Airtel, want to increase their current workforces by up to 25% in FY 2024. 

A surge in the need for telecom employment is being caused by 5G technology.

The employment activity of India’s top three telecom firms increased in FY23 after experiencing a setback because of the avian influenza outbreak.

Earlier in January 2023, Mint stated that over the next two years, hiring in the telecommunication and related industries is expected to grow by 40–45%, with a 30–36% increase in job openings over the previous 3-6 months.

According to recruiters, the demand is anticipated to be driven mostly by developing industries including whitespace spectrum, 5G, virtual network operations, network security, IoT in big data, cybersecurity experts, and cloud.

On Monday, Reliance Jio Infocomm said that it has begun rolling out 5G services across India using 26 gigahertz millimeter waves, claiming a record high speed of up to 2 gigabits per second.

Jio customers now using 26 GHz mmWave-based business-connectivity across all 22 telecom circles,” Reliance Jio said in a statement.

The telecom giant said that, in accordance with the provisions of the spectrum allotted to it on August 17, 2022, it has already met its minimum roll-out responsibilities in each of the 22 telecom circles and throughout each of the frequency bands.

In the meantime, telecom provider Bharti Airtel said on Tuesday that lawsuits totaling Rs. 45,286.76 crores had been filed against it and its affiliates in many courts throughout the nation.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) raised the biggest demand of all the outstanding lawsuits Rs. 15,178 crore for one-time spectrum fees in January 2013.

Debt-ridden In a regulatory statement on Monday, Vodafone Idea stated that a promoter group firm has provided finance assurance up to the amount of Rs. 2,000 crores.

As of June 30, 2023, the corporation recorded gross debt of Rs. 2.11 lakh crore.

The Company has received a communication from a promoter group entity confirming that in the event of any fund requirement for meeting its impending payment obligations by the Company, it shall provide direct or indirect financial support to the extent of ₹2,000 crore,” Vodafone Idea said in the filing.
