Greenfield Airport is situated 30 kilometers away from the Rajkot-Ahmadabad highway.

In order to facilitate smooth transportation to the fourth-largest city in Gujarat, the Airports Authority of India has launched the construction of a new Greenfield Airport in Rajkot.

The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 1,405 crores which spreads over 1,025 hectares. The Airport will be constructed in keeping in mind the modern standards and comfort for the passengers.

With a runway length of 3040m, the airport can serve aircraft such as Airbus321 and the apron is suitable for parking 14 aircraft. The city side of the airport is also being developed for landscaping and adequate parking for cars, taxis, and buses, officials said.

AAI representatives expressed the airport will be provided with state-of-the-art passenger services, four air bridges, three conveyor belts, 20 check-in counters, and modern fire extinguishing and fire alarm systems.

The exterior design of the terminal building is influenced by existing palaces in Rajkot such as Ranjit Vilas Palace, which combines traditional elements with modern forms.

Officials working on the runway and pavement stated that 95% of the earthwork has been completed. The building of the Airport is under construction and will be ready for operations by December end of 2023.
