On the opening day of the 2024 Ranji Trophy season, Hyderabad’s star player versus Nagaland was Rahul Singh. He became the season’s first batter to smash a double.

Rahul Singh

Today marked the grand opening of the Ranji Trophy season, with Hyderabad batsman Rahul Singh Gahlaut making history as the first player to score a double century in the 2023–24 campaign.

Rahul blasted a spectacular 214 from 157 deliveries on the first day of India’s main domestic championship, stitching his knock together with nine sixes and 23 boundaries.

In First-Class cricket, it was Rahul’s first double-century and career-high score.

He struck nine sixes and twenty-three boundaries en route to his 214 runs off 157 balls.

When he was removed, Hyderabad’s score was 353/3.

An amazing strike from Rahul

Following the early loss of Rohit Rayudu, Rahul took over at the crease as he and Tanmay Agarwal stitched a 227-run partnership. It was a big stand, and Rahul was the aggressor.

Rahul carried on his heroics after Agarwal was dismissed, scoring 118 runs with Tilak Varma. He reached 200 runs in 143 balls by continuing to play aggressively the entire knock.

Kense Khrievitso sacked him.

Second-fastest double-century in First-Class cricket history for an Indian

Rahul scored a six on his first-ever First-Class 200. In FC cricket, he became the second-fastest Indian double-centurion after reaching the milestone in 143 deliveries. Ravi Shastri continues to hold the top spot among Indians thanks to his 123-ball double-century for Bombay versus Baroda in 1985.

Rahul scores his 3,000th FC run.

Rahul, who had previously played for Services, made his debut for Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy.

Along with scoring 3,000 runs in First-Class cricket, he achieved this knock. At an average of more than 41, he has 3,141 runs overall from 43 FC games. In this style, he has amassed fifteen fifty and nine hundred. His career-best score, as previously indicated, is 214 runs knocked.

Rahul performed admirably for Services in the 2022–23 Ranji Trophy season.

Rahul hit 505 runs at an average of 38.84 in seven games, making him the top run scorer for Services in the 2022–23 Ranji Trophy. During the previous season, the southpaw hit three fifties in addition to slamming a single hundred. No other batter from Services reached the 450-run threshold.
