On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the National Panchayati Raj Day festivities in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, where he will meet leaders and officials from Panchayati Raj Institutions and gram sabhas throughout the nation.

The primary goal of National Panchayati Raj Day is to increase awareness about the significance of local self-government and to recognize Panchayats’ contributions to rural development. Throughout the nation, different events and activities, such as seminars, workshops, and cultural programs, are held to commemorate the day.

National Panchayati Raj Day brings people together to discuss the difficulties that Panchayats confront and strategies to solve them. It also allows the government to demonstrate its commitment to developing the Panchayati Raj System and empowering local people.

According to an official statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also conduct the virtual ‘Griha Pravesh’ (ceremony done upon entering one’s new residence) for 4.11 lakh beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana during the celebration, which will be held at the SAF venue in Rewa.

He would lay the groundwork for different Jal Jeevan Mission projects totaling 7,853 crores. According to the report, these initiatives would assist 9.48 lakh households in 4,036 communities. The prime minister will also go to the main site to see an exhibition displaying the growth of many ministries.

Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel will be present, as will Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Giriraj Singh, and Union Minister of State for Steel and Rural Development Faggan Singh Kulaste. Modi will also launch the combined e-GramSwaraj and GeM (government e-marketplace) platform for panchayat-level public procurement.

The combination of e-GramSwaraj and GeM seeks to enable panchayats to advertise their products and services via GeM while using the e-GramSwaraj platform. The PM will also launch the ‘Joint Steps Towards Development’ campaign, which aims to increase public engagement in ensuring that all government programs are fully used.

According to the statement, the campaign will concentrate on extending the advantages of several initiatives to the final mile. Modi would also distribute around 35 lakh Swamitva property cards to beneficiaries. With the distribution of these cards, about 1.25 crore property cards would be given across the nation under the Swamitva Yojana.

He will also lay the groundwork for and dedicate to the country several railway projects totaling around Rs. 2,300 crores. The projects include doubling railway lines, gauge conversion, and electrification projects, as well as complete electrification of Madhya Pradesh’s rail network. According to the statement, the PM will also lay the groundwork for the reconstruction of Gwalior station and flag off three trains.
