The idea of entrepreneurship might not always be about chasing numbers and markets. To look at it from the aspect of what it can offer to the economy or society, entrepreneurship is about creating value and bridging gaps. In the IT industry, businesses scale with the help of stellar products that could address a niche sector and optimize its growth. The editorial brings to our readers a rejuvenating piece on Karthik Manoharan, who founded WeCodee to provide top-tier IT solutions to the fintech industry.
Karthik Manoharan created WeCodee in 2020 with just about two employees. In 2025, that company grew by about 100 professionals working towards a unified vision. But the most riveting aspect of Karthik’s entrepreneurial mindset is his resilience to commit to his work and business. He takes us back to his childhood days when he was in fourth standard. Karthik needed a small amount of money for a school trip. Interestingly, his budding mind restricted him from asking for help from his parents. Instead, he, along with his cousin, went forward building a kite-making shop to raise money. Back then, when the competitors were charging Rs. 5 for a kite, Karthik and his cousin came up with the same quality of a product at just Rs. 3. Understanding deeply, this was not about winning the world and making a legacy. But to analyze a personal demand of attending a school trip and sparking creativity to make it possible. Most importantly, enjoy the process along the way.
Karthik graduated in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Anna University, Coimbatore. While fulfilling his academic duties, he also actively took part in extracurricular activities where he worked on his networking skills. At WeCodee, Karthik Manoharan looks into international strategy, product innovation, and business expansion while further exploring new opportunities. WeCodee highly prioritizes creating customer-centric fintech solutions while expanding globally and setting up offices in Dubai, Bengaluru, and Coimbatore. Some of the innovative fintech products by WeCodee are WeEngage, SmartServe, DigiFly, WeSign, WeCred, and WeTrack. Currently, the startup has collaborated with more than 50 global banks. In 2025, they expanded into Central Asia and South America and launched a Training & Innovation Center in Coimbatore. WeCodee’s motto is about empowering financial institutions in emerging markets with scalable, secure, and innovative digital banking solutions.
While scaling WeCodee, Karthik faced challenges like balancing a global client base from India, understanding regional regulations, and building trust among clients without having an expansive product portfolio. But Karthik Manoharan learned and innovated and is currently strategizing to grow to regions like the US, Europe, and South America. A visionary like Karthik Manoharan takes startups like WeCodee from scratch and builds revolutionary B2B SaaS products in the fintech industry, thus amplifying entrepreneurial impact. He says, “Great companies aren’t built on motivation—they’re built on obsession, consistency, and unwavering commitment.”
